We would like to take this opportunity to let you know how grateful we are that you take care of our precious animals. As you know they are like children to us and you treat them as though they are. Zoran and Bryan are right up to date and very knowledgeable and caring vets and are always keeping up to date with new techniques and training. They take time to explain the situation and all possible outcomes so an informed decision can be made, and they make sure we understand everything no matter how long it takes. When we lost our Bella through sickness we felt like the staff shared in our loss too. The clinic is always scrupulously clean and tidy. It's great that Zoran can be reached out of hours if necessary. We regard everyone there as friends and not just our vet clinic.

My partner and I wish to express gratitude to Zoran and Suncica of the West Coast Veterinary Clinic for the high quality of veterinary services that have been given to our animals over the last seven years. We have experienced excellent service from this veterinary practice. Our animals are always treated in a professional and caring manner. Zoran explains treatment options in a clear and open manner, inviting feedback and seeking the assistance of other experts, if ever necessary. We have been particularly impressed by the often non-invasive style of support and treatment, reflecting a level of empathy for animals that is rare. In fact, we have found that all those involved in working in this practice treat the animals as if they were their own. We highly recommend this veterinary service and feel extremely privileged to have such wonderful experts caring for our precious pets.
I can honestly say my pets are the healthiest they have been since discovering West Coast Veterinary Clinic Ltd. Zoran and Suncica genuinely love my pets and Hinny thinks going to visit them is better than Xmas. I didn't know there were vets out there like these guys - people that care, and don't mind a Saturday night call when one falls sick. Thanks Zoran and Suncica - I feel blessed to have discovered you.
Our dog a bearded collie named Dougal had been suffering for a number of months with a skin allergy. After visiting other specialists and being frustrated with the outcome, our vet recommended that we visit Zoran.
We found Zoran to be very helpful, knowledgeable and positive, and we came away feeling that we were in capable hands. Very quickly we saw results from the treatment that Zoran was giving Dougal, in a short space of time the itching has stopped and over a number of weeks we were able to identify the cause of Dougal's skin allergy.
We are now in a position where Dougal no longer suffers from itchy skin and we are in control of the situation. We highly recommend Zoran, and we and Dougal are very appreciative of the help Zoran has given us.
Thanks very much,
Liz & Craig Nicholson (& of course Dougal)
Bella is our little Westie. The youngest and much loved member of the family.
She's full of character with a big personality. Fun loving and friendly.
So it was heartbreaking to watch as her skin condition became progressively worse despite endless visits to the local vet.
Bella was scratching herself raw. And it looked as though she would continue to do so. It was no life for a dog.
Thankfully, our local vet was a professional and realised that Bella's condition required specialist help. He referred us to Dr. Zoran Dakic, of the
West Coast Veterinary Clinic and things began to take a change for the better.
I would love to say that Bella was cured overnight but the reality is that skin conditions such as Westies incur, are difficult to diagnose and even more difficult to cure.
We have been delighted at Zoran's patience and professionalism as he has systematically reduced the possible causes of Bella's skin condition down to the definitive causes and then set out a treatment regimen to deal to those causes.
Bella has gone from being a great little dog with a ton of woes to a great little dog, full of life and absent the skin afflictions that have so troubled her.
I know this process has been difficult and demanding of great skill. I am delighted to have seen Zoran demonstrate those skills while also demonstrating a genuine love of his 'patients'.
We cannot recommend Zoran highly enough to anyone whose dog has a skin condition.
And if it's possible, your dog will love you even more for your care and attention.
When I first brought Ralph, my 11-year-old West Highland White to Zoran six months ago, I was at the end of my tether.
Ralphs skin and stomach issues had got increasingly debilitating for him as he aged and I felt that we were nearing the end of the line with him. Nothing was working and Ralph was suffering.
He had lost most of his hair on his chest and stomach and in these areas his skin had gone black. As well, he was vomiting on a regular basis.
Finally, we were sent to Zoran at West Coast vets.
It took several months perseverance on Zorans part - and ours as well - but gradually, with the right food and the right drugs, he began to improve in health.
Today Ralph is back to his old self. He is lively, engaging and exactly the same dog he was when he was younger. His fur is back to normal and his skin colour has returned. As well, we have no problems with his stomach because he is now eating food that agrees with him.
It was Zorans patient dedication and determination that achieved this.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.

My name is Rocco and I am a 2 1/2 year old miniature schnauzer. For much of my life I have suffered from really itchy skin. At times I have been so distressed that I have bitten my paws, legs and rear end until they are so sore I cannot bear my humans touching me. They tried changing my diet and took me to a few different vets, but decided to get expert help when I started rolling my eyes back and did not want to play anymore. A kind lady recommended Zoran who spent a lot of time talking with my human mum about my symptoms and explaining the possible causes of itchy skin. We came away with an action plan and - guess what - within two weeks my itchies were gone. I love life again, am catching up on all my cuddles, and think Zoran is just the greatest doctor a dog could have! Mum says not all itch troubles are as easily solved as mine, so hang in there and kind thoughts to those of you for whom treatment takes a bit longer. Zoran is great at his job, and believe me, healthy skin feels wonderful!

Floyd, our 10yo wheaten terrier has suffered from arthritis most of his life. During his last annual check up at West Coast Veterinary Clinic, Zoran introduced us to their new 'Laser' treatment for muscular and joint pain relief.
Having decided to give it a try and now after 5 of his 6 initial treatments we believe Floyd has improved. He recently jumped up onto a bed - we have not seen him do this in a long time. Floyd walks daily a kilometer or so (sometimes very much further) - we believe he is walking with less limp and more spring in his step.

My dog Big Greta was presented with a crippled left hind leg, which happened very suddenly last Monday night. We saw you on Tuesday morning, and at that consultation you suggested we try this new "laser" treatment to see if it helped her. So we booked her in for a treatment Wednesday AM.
Laser treatment is like Star Trek stuff. I admit I was very skeptical: I am quite familiar with lasers, how they work and what they can do, and I couldn't easily work out what possible benefit this treatment could provide. But we will always do the right thing for our dogs -- especially Greta and you have always been right in the past, and we have trusted your judgment with all our animals, so my wife and I decided to take a chance and see what benefit "shining a light on her arse" could provide.
I've been around dogs most of my life, and I wasn't at all expecting what happened, because the results were astonishing. And after you explained the science behind it, it all made perfect sense. Greta was noticeably improved after one treatment: her leg started to free up and "un-cripple". After two treatments, her leg was working much better. After 3 treatments, she is definitely on the mend -- remarkably so: her mobility is now almost normal and she is much happier. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday... so three days in total. A very speedy recovery indeed! Much faster than could otherwise be explained by an unassisted healing process.
I am convinced that this has been effective in treating her complaint, for the reasons you gave: directed medium-output laser energy working at a cellular level to stimulate cell repair and regeneration. If I understand correctly, it's a similar principle to radiotherapy, except using a much safer part of the energy spectrum. We will be doing a couple more treatments next week, after giving her a rest over the weekend.
Folks, if your dog/cat/pet is having difficulty moving around, it is well worth checking out Zoran's clinic and trying this laser therapy: he is the only veterinarian in New Zealand with this technology: you would have to go overseas to get access to it otherwise. This may be cutting-edge stuff in NZ, but it's well-proven in the US and overseas, and is reasonably affordable. Do like we did: try it for one or two treatments, see if it helps your pet.
Zoran has taken "Before" video footage with Big Greta. On Tuesday or Wednesday he will take "After" footage. The difference will be astonishing. Why not ask him to show it to you?
"Our dog Petra has severe arthritis in her hip joints in her back legs. For the last few years she has been taking a drug called previcox which seemed to alleviate the pain. Prior to taking that she had reached the stage where she had refused to go for walks at all. Recently she became unwell and developed kidney failure so has to be taken off the previcox. We were concerned that would mean she would become immobile again. Zoran suggested we try his new laser treatment. We were skeptical that such treatment would help her. After a couple of weeks of regular treatment Petra showed great improvement and she is now walking very freely. In fact she seems better than when she was on the pain relief medication. We can't recommend the laser treatment highly enough. She now only requires the treatment once a month. It is completely painless, drug free, she enjoys the treatment and it is more cost effective than the medication she was taking".

After a close friend suggested she'd had fantastic results with her aged pet, I decided to give laser therapy some thought for my 12yo Burmese cat Harry. As he's aged, he's begun to suffer from arthritis and it's associated issues. In winter he's been particularly unhappy and listless. After the first session we saw increased energy and movement and in all subsequent sessions we've seen a marked improvement. With a decrease in his obvious discomfort he's become a much happier, energetic pet. He's more vocal, affectionate and is clearly enjoying a significant type of relief that no amount of Metacam or dietary supplement was affording him. With his age considered, I felt it was a worthwhile investment to do anything I could to make his final years as healthy as possible. Now instead of having a listless pet I've got a cat who think's he's found the fountain of youth. I found Zoran and Suncica's professional care and attention exceptional. The therapy itself is so simple yet effective and the service provided by West Coast Veterinary has yielded fantastic results. We would happily recommend both the practice and the practitioners as being superb.

Early this year we noticed our then 14 month old dog, Flicka was showing occasional discomfort in her front leg and would just limp unexpectedly – often after she had been running around or after getting up from sleeping on it. It didn’t appear to be a serious injury – but kept coming back every few weeks, which was concerning. After talking to Zoran about the new laser therapy we decided to give it a go – as we were keen to explore drug-free options for her recovery. Flicka had three quick (and easy) treatments (on successive days) and that was all she needed. We have not seen her limp since – and that was 3 months ago.
We were really impressed with the treatment and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to treat their animals for pain, discomfort or recovery. In fact, we have been telling everyone that will listen about it.

Bindi & Laser Treatment:
Bindi, what can we say about him, one hyperactive 10 year old Border Collie. Why walk when you can run? Why think about your actions when you can just do it?
In his youth we used to do agility. He was always in such a hurry to get round the course that he frequently took flying leaps off equipment which occasionally resulted in a pulled muscle - or ligament problems. In the end we gave up agility when Zoran informed us that we were lucky his cruciate ligament had not snapped.
However, now in his advanced years he has problems with the leg that he was always injuring. He drags it or we find the paw turning under. This doesnt always slow him down but it does give him problems sometimes when he is trying to go to the toilet because Bindis other problem is a perineal hernia.
Bindis hernia every now & then causes him problems in that he cannot defecate easily & things build up. Really painful for Bindi & definitely unpleasant for Zoran! Bindi undergoes treatment for this under anaesthetic, a most unpleasant experience for him and definitely painful. After the procedure Zoran gives him laser treatment & Bindi comes out his normal bouncing self. It is also quite noticeable that the hernia itself has shrunk in size.
We have treatment once a month for his back leg and the improvement is instant!
So would we recommend laser treatment? We certainly would!

Hi, my name is Michelle Lewis and I would like to share an amazing experience with all other animal lovers. I have been a caregiver to Bella Bagnall, who is a West Highland White Terrier and is around 13/14years old. I have been in Bella's life for 11years and have seen her battle through many health problems over the years, her owner has tried many different Vets and none have seemed to help until Bella's owner found Dr Zoran Dakic who has just been incredible by putting her on the correct diet, the correct medication for her needs, and treating her hips and knee with laser treatment. The result of this amazing treatment and caring Vet has just been truly incredible and quite remarkable to see. Bella is like a new girl, happy in spirit, enjoying good health and enjoying walking as she hasn't in years! I would highly recommend Dr Zoran Dakic and laser treatment to any pet owner.
Hello. My name is Heidi and I am a 5 year old mini Dachshund.
For the past 4 years I have not been very well. My skin was scaly and I lost a lot of
hair on my legs and paws.
Because I was itchy all the time, I scratched a lot and rubbed my tummy on anything
rough and often it became quite raw. Dad was forever putting neotopic cream on the
sore areas. I also chewed my feet (some people said it was frustration at always being
itchy) so badly that I could not enjoy walkies.
Over the 4 years we visited 7 different Veterinarians. Some said they knew a lot about
skin disorders. Some said I was neurotic others that it was a dietary problem and
another said I had a rare disease. They gave me Allergy tests (one had 40 needles,
did not think much of that, even though I had a local anaesthetic) blood tests, urine tests,
Homeopathic medicines, special diets and most said I would have to spend the rest of
my life on steroids.
Then a friend suggested that we visit Dr Zoran at West Coast Veterinary Clinic and
this proved to a life changing decision!!! When we arrived I got lots of cuddles from
Dr Zoran and Suncica and felt really welcome. They took skin samples and Dr Zoran
looked at them under the microscope. He then prescribed a comprehensive course of
In just under 2 months my skin is so smooth (a bit like those Infomercials that you see
on TV). All my fur has grown back and I have lovely black and tan thick sox again!! I
have stopped scratching and biting my feet. Now I love going for walks again and
chasing my big sister Bella around the house. This is very good for both of us. Bella is
a bit overweight (please do not say I said anything) so she is getting plenty of exercise.
Every six weeks or so, we go for grooming at Angels (Mum and Dad call it Rodney
Waynes!!!) and the groomers cannot believe how wonderful my skin and fur is. So it is just not Mum and Dad opinion.
Thank you Dr Zoran.
I am now a most happy little Daxie!!

When I took my 11 year old Border Collie to Zoran for the first time for her annual vaccinations, he asked about her mobility. I told him that she had slowed down a lot, and thought this was simply due to old age. She was much slower to get to her feet after laying down and was also taking her time up and down our stairs. Zoran did a quick check of her hips, and Blaze actually cried and struggled to get away which was so sad to see. Zoran recommended either anti inflammatory tablets or laser to treat Blazes arthritis. Not too thrilled by the prospect of giving her drugs for the rest of her life, I opted for the laser treatment and we started it that day. After her initial treatment I could not believe the different in Blazes movement. She was running around like a puppy and cruising up and down the steps. I honestly can not believe the difference in her. Because her decline was so gradual, I had not really noticed the severity. Blaze has now finished her initial treatments and is just needing to have monthly maintenance. Thanks so much Zoran, Blaze is a different dog and I am so grateful.
We have been very impressed with the laser treatment for our dog Genevieve arthritis. Until we came to you, we had no idea that she was suffering from arthritis and was in pain although she was becoming more demanding and we could not understand why.
Since she has undergone treatment, we have noticed she is far more relaxed and sleeps very soundly. Her left leg does not tremble anymore and she seems happier and has a lot more energy than before. It is good to see that her appetite has increased and she is enjoying food again. We are sure that the treatment is helping her in so many ways and is giving her a better quality of life in her senior years.
Thank you again for your help.

Zoran has been our family vet for the past 10-12 years and has seen several family members come and sadly go. Always showing how much he genuinely cares and accommodates the needs of our pets and us.
Several years ago we had a wonderful Retrodoodle called Teddy and unfortunately he developed extreme epilepsy at a very young age. For the next year, on many occasions, Zoran went far beyond the call of duty with Teddy; literally sitting with him at times when he was heavily sedated, investigating any other treatments that might be available. Nothing was making Teddys or our lives any better, so when we had exhausted all the medications available in NZ he was able to offer further assistance by importing different meds from overseas. Teddys epilepsy however was so extreme we had to say goodbye to our beloved boy.
We now have a 3 year old Labradoodle Tasha and 1 year old Toby (Teds replacement). We have also shifted away from Oratia, but recently when Tasha became very sick losing a lot of weight very quickly and our current vet (closer to our new home) was puzzled, we knew where we had to take her. Zoran could see immediately what the problem was just by looking at the blood results. She has Addisons disease. It is so helpful that the blood test results can be done at Zorans surgery, no waiting around for days to find out what is happening and his extensive knowledge makes it easy for him to explain exactly what is going on. Tasha was back to her normal self within days.
We also got Zoran to look at Toby as in his 1st year he had a reoccurring rash, taking many courses of antibiotics, steroids etc to get rid of it each time and the previous vet had no idea as to what was causing it poor fella! Zoran actually took the time to do a comprehensive consultation, asking lots of question and taking notes. This is Zorans area of expertise specialising in skin related issues. I do not know why we did not bring Toby back to him from the start. A relatively simple and quick diagnosis was made and hopefully Toby will not have to suffer with this rash anymore.
As pet lovers, I am sure you will agree that you will do just about anything for your pets when they are not well, so we will definitely be making the 45 minutes drive to see Zoran and his team every time from now on. The peace of mind having someone you can trust and be confident you are getting the best possible care and treatment for your pet is invaluable.
Zoran, I know you continue to study to specialise in many different areas of veterinary care and it really shows and makes all the difference.
We will definitely be spreading the word about how wonderful you are – Thank you so much Zoran!
